(More customer reviews)I find this a handy light to carry with on hikes or when I'm riding my bike. The provided case keeps it readily available. The shape and size allows it to serve several purposes.
This is a solid light that is well designed and quite bright. It uses AA batteries and rechargeable NiMH batteries work just fine.
If you tap the tail cap the light turns on and stays on. If you hold it down then it works as a momentary contact switch and the light goes out when you let upon the button.
There are four light modes:
The initial mode, when you first turn on the light, either with a tap so it stays on or by holding the button so it will stay on until it's released, is full power. That is 120 lumens with a beam shape of a very bright center and a much wider, less brightly illuminated area. At six feet, the center is about 6" and the whole illuminated area is about 5'.
Once on, if you tap the tail cap twice the light output drops to 30 lumens, the beam shape is unchanged. I've found this sufficient for most needs and it allows the batteries to last a lot longer.
Three taps changes the output to a surprisingly useful 0.3 lumens. This allows you to, for example, read in the dark without destroying your night vision.
Finally, if you tap the tail cap and then hold it down you get a rapidly flashing, full power light. That can possibly be used to disorient someone or at least allow you to fit in at your next Rave.
Bottom line: This light is well made, reasonably priced for what you get, and can serve multiple purposes.
BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews, accompanied by detailed videos, can take the place of first-hand experiences that are often lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've gotten from other reviewers and try to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and the video at least entertaining. If there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.
