Knog Frog Strobe Ft Bike Lights, Magenta Review

Knog Frog Strobe Ft Bike Lights, Magenta
Average Reviews:

This light is pretty good when it works, but I agree with the other reviewer about how fast it drains batteries. I recently pulled out my bike and was out past dark in NYC because I decided to ride a little farther. When I went to turn the headlight on...nothing, even though I had changed the batteries about a week before. The old frog model was great, not sure what happened to this one. It eats batteries like Shooter McGavin eats POS for breakfast.

I bought 6 of these for family and friends for Christmas. Luckily I checked the units before sending them off and found that 1 regular and 3 remote switches did not work. Called company for replacement, which they did. Excellent tactical light for money, but check the base switches.

My daughter was held up. I am opposed to pepole carry guns. If for no other reason that rthings happen so fast you do not have time for a gun. She works for a law fim and goes into the court house. The security will not allow mace or anything.
This solved two probelms. Security allowed her to bring it in and the lite can be attached to purse and can pull off now.
The derrent is not as could as agunbut it will startle

eGear 4 LED Strobe Light (Red Case) Review

eGear 4 LED Strobe Light (Red Case)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this light because I wanted to be able to use it in some of my backpacking and other trips, and I figured it would be good for emergencies (shock-proof LEDs, long run time). After getting it and playing with it for a few weeks, my opinon is that it is a good light, and bright enough, but the flash rate with the LED head is very slow. Much slower than a standard Xenon bulb (or whatever type most have). Additionally, I don't think the wierd lighthouse prism makes it much brighter; in fact, I think it dims it a little. I would prefer it to have a regular rounded prism like most others have. Overall, I think it will do for what I want, especially for the price, but I think there are better options if you are willing to pay for them. Overall 3/5.

These work great for use in areas that are already lighted. They work well for cars and others to see you in low light or at night. However if you want to use them for getting to and from areas that are not well lighted i would recommend getting one of the larger bulb offerings from Knog. They make several others that are slightly more expensive but deliver a brighter light.

Knog Frog Strobe Rr Bike Lights Review

Knog Frog Strobe Rr Bike Lights
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had read a lot of reviews about this item and most of them said these little Knog Strobe lights were difficult to use or broken.
Straight out of the package there are instructions that tell you to take the batteries out and remove a small slip of paper in between them. This most likely prevents them from turning on while in shipment. I noticed fiddling with it that the light came on for a split second even while the paper was in between the batteries before I had taken it off. I pressed down on the top (to turn it on) and probably resulted in a weak connection between the batteries around the edges. Maybe this is the reason a lot of people said their Knog was broken or couldn't get it to work properly at first.
The next complaint I read was that the lights turn on a lot in their backpacks. So far I have only had one of mine turn on once, but I have to argue that this is a pretty common problem with most lights. I used to have a Planet Bike brand beamer and tail light and they'd always turn on while in my bag. I'd say that it really depends on how you handle your backpack (I'm pretty rough) and that you should just make a habit of checking your lights when you get to your location and put your bag down. The buttons aren't finicky at all or difficult to press down like some reviewers said. They do take a moderate amount of pressure that just rolling around in your backpack generally wouldn't click them on, but not enough to have to fidget with it every time. There is a "click" sound when the button is pressed to leave any doubts about whether you pressed it correctly or not behind.
The last complaint I read was about the 5 different options for blinking style. One other reviewer posted the solution: select the blinking style you like (I like the steady even blink) and then when you turn of your light every time just hold down the button until it turns off and it will effectively save that style's position. Every time you turn it on after that it will start on that blinking style. You have to be sure to hold it down every time you turn it off though or it will lose the setting (and start back at the first style again).
Overall, the lights fit snug around my handlebars and seatpost and I have not had any dead batteries yet. I just wanted to clear up some misconceptions I saw on here.

Streamlight 69210 TLR-1 Strobe Review

Streamlight 69210 TLR-1 Strobe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are three things the new TLR-1s has improved upon the original TLR-1:
1. The brightness. 160 lumens from the TLR-1s vs. 135 from the old TLR-1. It's visibly brighter, when shooting onto a white wall from the same distance, though not a huge difference.
2. The strobe feature. You need to double tap the switch within 0.4 second to activate it. It is very effective, very disorienting to look at (even when looking from behind). But the activation is hard to accomplish, especially in the dark, under stress, in a self-defense situation. Another review mentioned the remote switch for this light that could make it easier.
3. The battery door. On the old TLR-1, to change batteries I need to use a coin to pry the door latch off to open (latch is metal, door is plastic, and it's very tight for waterproofing). And since the door and the switch are the only parts made from plastic, a few of those coin prying left dent marks on the door. Now, the door is still plastic, but I can just flip up that flat metal leaf, and the door pops right open. Push the metal piece down and the door snaps shut with the same tightness as before, only much easier to use...
My copy of the TLR-1s went back to the factory for warranty repair after only one range session (about 150 rounds fired, light mounted on a Glock 23, shooting 180gr .40SW and 115gr 9mm from a conversion barrel, both Walmart WWB and Federal FMJ ammo). The strobe quit working after the range shooting. The top of the light forward of the muzzle got burnt by the muzzle flash (top part of that silver ring was completely blackened), and can't be wiped clean using alcohol and Goo Gone. I don't really care for the strobe feature since it's so hard to use, but I worried if some other parts on the circuit board might also be affected by the shock of gun fire. Called Streamlight, they issued a RMA right away, and I got it back in two weeks. Good customer service for a company that stand behind their products. I will probably buy another TLR-1s shortly for my other rail-equipped handguns so I don't have to swap all the time when I swap carry guns. Also to have a backup unit, as the old saying goes, for flashlights, one is none, two is one...
BTW, Streamlight even cleaned the powder burns on the light for me. The silver ring is shiny again...

Awesome strobe, used one for years as in the Marines. it's bright, compact, and durable. Be careful of corrosion though, fresh water rinse if it gets salt water on it (duh). I just bought the orange civilian version, because I don't need a tactical IR filter anymore.

I have two of these beacons and must say that they are falling apart after just two years, most of that time stored in a cool, dry area. One has stopped working due to a broken circuit within the battery housing. The other works intermittently, probably for the same reason. You get what you pay for with these lights.

Nathan Clip-On Deluxe L.E.D. Safety Strobe Review

Nathan Clip-On Deluxe L.E.D. Safety Strobe
Average Reviews:

The Nathan 5-LED safety light has bright LEDs. It has good visibility on the road, and all the different modes enables use in different scenarios.
You can have all LEDs ON or all LEDs blinking or One-at-a-time blinking (energy saving mode). With only one LED,s its still bright and visible, and the small time interval between blinking means that it would not be a risk to leave on this mode.
Runs on 2-AAA's included with the product, which is not mentioned in the product description. So no hassle trying to find the correct button cell.
It has a strong clip, which can be tagged to clothing, belt, bag, etc. But no attachment for seat-post.

Leland Marine Emergency Strobe Light Review

Leland Marine Emergency Strobe Light
Average Reviews:

I have used this strobe for years on wildland fires, since i have retired I have to purchase my own equipment so I'm purchasing 2. THis is a really good piece of euipment for night ops especially around heavy equipment, and is a good locator signal for several contingencies, keep mine in my line gear even if i'm not on the night shift. This strobe is simple without much to go wrong, just the on/off switch, and it's water proof. The issues are: It is likely to break if dropped on a hard surface, and the switch is quickly ruined by just a little corrosion, so always keep a piece of cardborrd between the positive contact and the element when not in use.

This works far better than the cheaper strobe I used before. You definitely get what you pay for, here. I use it attached to the back of my bicycle to alert motorists, and keep another in my trunk as a warning flare in case I have a flat. Very bright. Waterproof. Another plus is that is uses normal size batteries so I can use my rechargeables. Note that it is sensitive to voltage--so my rechargeables have to be fully charged for it to work.

Advanced Hideaway Generation 3 LED light (90 Watt) (Amber) Review

Advanced Hideaway Generation 3 LED light (90 Watt) (Amber)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These newer LED lights are designed to replace conventional strobe tubes, which were usually mounted in existing parking/tail light housings. Problem is that the LED's are arrainged in such a way that light output is severly limited by the LED's not being in a direct line of sight, if mounted from the rear, which is usually the case. LED's are sideways to the visible plain. Stay away from these until the design is corrected.

Pelican LED Tactical Flashlight Review

Pelican LED Tactical Flashlight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have this light and the larger 8060 and both are comparable in brightness with the 8060 a little bit brighter but a lot larger. One advantage of the 8060 Pelican is that it can also use Alkaline batteries in addition to the nickel metal. It has a 4 hour runt time compared to the one hour of the smaller light. Seems its the light the one lone reviewer should be using that complained about the 7060. Four times the duration and quick change batteries from Pelican, problem solved. Having said all that I like the 7060 LAPD light better than the 80 series because its much more compact and has a lithium ion battery. End of world senario get the 8060, all other uses the 7060 is the way to go.
