UZI Tactical Defender Pen & LED Flashlight (Black) Review

UZI Tactical Defender Pen and LED Flashlight (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This set is great. I am very happy with the flashlight. Heavy duty aircraft aluminum Body with a super bright 110 Lumen light that has three modes - bright, dim, and strobe. There is rubber pressure button on the bottom that you hard press to turn on and then half press to switch modes. All the access points have rubber grommets so I'm sure the light is water resistant. The pen is also very nice but I was looking to purchase this for the light. Both the pen and light have a metal clip. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and I wish I would have picked up a couple when they were on sale. The set competes easily with sets double the money.

MAXSA Innovations 40225 Solar-Powered Motion-Activated 80 LED Security Floodlight Review

MAXSA Innovations 40225 Solar-Powered Motion-Activated 80 LED Security Floodlight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've bought a few other solar-powered motion sensor lights in the past, and they usually vary from dim to very dim. But this 80 (count 'em) LED unit is actually pretty bright! It's something of a breakthrough in solar-powered lighting in that regard.
It's not blindingly bright, but it gives off a decent light, about what you'd expect from a medium-sized outdoor lighting unit, much brighter than a flashlight. I held it up to a few other lights for comparison, and I would say it's roughly similar to a 75-watt incandescent bulb in brightness, or maybe a 40-watt halogen floodlight. Being an LED light, the light given off is a bit blue-ish.
I've only had it a few weeks, but it works fine so far. (It fell off a 4-foot railing onto my deck at one point, but still worked afterward.) I charged it up for 5 days at first to be safe. It hasn't run out of battery power yet... although I typically only trigger it maybe 10 to 20 times per night, and I have it set to stay on for only about 30 seconds. You can adjust the time it stays on from about 20 seconds to 2 minutes.
All in all, a very good product.

EagleTac P20C2 300 Lumens Cree XP-G R5 LED Flashlight Review

EagleTac P20C2 300 Lumens Cree XP-G R5 LED Flashlight
Average Reviews:

This is the brightest smallest flashlight possible. It seems to burn a hole in the night but is thin, barely wider in most spots that the battery and only slightly longer than the palm of your hand. The light output is adjustable to save batteries when full out is not required but it is a little tricky to get to the lowest output setting which is a little too minimal for me. The batteries are expensive when bought by the pair but the bulk 12 or 20 packs really lower the per unit price. Lastly I think you could drive a Hummer over it. It is very well built. I keep it on my motorcycle for general and emerg. uses and it fits under the rear seat of a Ducati, no small feat.

Sound activated 15 Color LED Light Bulb and Remote Review

Sound activated 15 Color LED Light Bulb and Remote
Average Reviews:

This small light is not good for stage lighting, only accent lighting. However, when placed strategically close to the object or person that needs "mood lighting", it works great. It does move to the beat of the music and changes colors with many settings on the remote. Great for a party in your home or atmosphere in any room. I loved that the bulb didn't seem to heat up and it lasts a long time. As a stage performer and visual artist, I plan on getting plenty of use out of this unique product. Paid extra for one-day shipping and it arrived on time in great condition.

Life+Gear LG319 Outdoor Series Super Bright 360 Lumens Cree LED Flashlight, Black
Average Reviews:

I have owned Many Flashlights along with Led Flashlights. There are about 3 advantages of a flashlight with bigger batteries. 1 It will use the same batteries longer, 2 Its easier to keep track of especially under the hood of a car. 3 If you had to use it as a weapon like a club it might work. Other advantages are 4 The strobe mode is a blinding flash on the subject. 5 Powerfull but not 360 lumens, its more like 250 lumens like others have claimed. 6 Waterproof tested by Dipping it in Lake two feet . 7 I am satisfied with this light enough to stop buying others as I was looking for a strong, waterproof model with standard batteries that will hold up for a while this is it , and of course the wife will be happy I stopped buying and reviewing them.

Smith Victor FL280X, 4 Monolight Soft Flash Kit Review

Smith Victor FL280X, 4 Monolight Soft Flash Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These monolights (300i) are just about equal with any other self-contained monolight on the market (i.e. alien bees, photogenics, etc.). They provide accurate, consistant lighting and have a pretty good build quality. But their quality is overshadowed by little flaws that equal big problems. Number one problem is the built-in slave needs LOTS of light to trigger the unit. In fact, if you are shooting anywhere with celings higher than 10 feet or without any sort of bright walls around your primary flash, you will need some sort of EXTRA triggering mechanism. Second problem is standard items such as umbrellas cannot be used while the reflectors are attached. This is a drawback because there is no protection for the flash tube besides the 3 inch buffer the reflectors provide between the flash tube and anything that might touch it. Be prepared to purchase many replacement tubes if you do location shoots. Lastly, be prepared to purchase new light stands if you need to elevate your units more than half the height of the stands provided. The weight of the unit creates an unsteady setup at any height above say 5 feet. And that's WITHOUT accessories like softboxes and such. In short, the units are good for in-studio shoots, but be prepared to "accessorize" if you want a traveling light set.

Streamlight 52102 Task Light 6-3/4-Inch Flashlight, Gun Metal Gray Review

Streamlight 52102 Task Light 6-3/4-Inch Flashlight, Gun Metal Gray
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Excellent task light. Like the 1-AA and 3-AA lights in the series, barrel is solid chunk of aluminum. Fit, finish, machining first class. Barrel is knurled full length...just the right amount of grip. Well-balanced. Sturdy lanyard ring protrudes from the tailcap. Can't stand it up on end, but won't roll off a table ala Maglite. Will fit in a pants pocket, coat pocket, toolkit, briefcase OK.
Switch is positive on/off on the side of the barrel near the head. Rubber covered. I prefer this to twisting the head or tailcap, or a pushbutton on/off tailcap switch. Great feature is the three-way operation: high, low, strobe. This is not meant to be a superbright light. But on high it's fine for dark rooms, garages, basements, attics. Outside in pitch darkness, it is usable for lighting your way for over 100 ft. In fact it does cast enough light for me to see a Stop Sign 500 ft from my house. Note: A previous reviewer complained about the lack of a strobe function. But as someone pointed out in a comment, the strobe is activated by holding down the switch for several sec. This is clearly stated in the instructions.
But this light is near perfect for closeup inspection. Especially with hi/lo settings, this is the light to get for inspecting engine compartments, inside chassis, wiring closets, under tables ...Put it on low and you can checkout a keyboard up close (6 inch) without blinding yourself. Light pattern has bright spot with evenly distributed field. No focus, but not needed. Balanced white color. About the only improvement I would ask for is a momentary on switch position. This is a real winner. If you want superbright, though, go for the 3-AA unit.
Update July 10, 2009. Happy with the first unit. Just bought a second one. Same high-quality as the first one. Some customers carp about the quality of products made in China. But what really matters more than place of manufacture are the specifications and quality control of the manufacturer. Streamlight apparently is maintaining high standards. The quality of the materials, and the fit and finish are excellent.

LED Color Changing Mood Strip w/ 4 Strip Lights Review

LED Color Changing Mood Strip w/ 4 Strip Lights
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a very cool product with endless possibilities. I built a 48" long, 2 tier glass liquor bottle shelf for my back bar. I installed these light strips under the glass to illuminate the bottles. It looks great! Some bottles light up better than others depending on the contents, glass color and light color. You can dial in a particular color or let it cycle through a range of colors. The brightness is adjustable and there is plenty of brightness with no heat given off. The remote feature is also very handy as you can "play" with the colors. There are manufacturers that make bottle displays on the web that use this exact same product and charge two hundred dollars for the light kit. I'll be buying another unit for a 2nd shelf unit as well as another to install under the front edge of my bar.

First Alert SA720CN Smoke Alarm Photoelectric Sensor with Escape Light Review

First Alert SA720CN Smoke Alarm Photoelectric Sensor with Escape Light
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Folks,
Ionization detectors DO NOT protect you. The results and test methods are false due to the fire industy's cozy relationship with smoke detector manufacturers (yes, direct kick backs, look it up) and money for lobbyists in Sacramento and Washington DC. The profit margin on ionization detectors is much higher than photoelectric. Only photoelectric (required in commercial buildings - why not residential?) WORK. 75% of ionization detectors did not sound AT ALL in smoke filled rooms lethal to humans and have failed repeated independent tests. I'm a 20 year veteran of the fire service and a paramedic. I can guarantee you will DIE from smoke inhalation before an ionization alarm EVER goes off. No one dies from being burnt, you die from asphyxiation due to smoke and poisonous gases. Read this and only buy photoelectric. There's too much information for me to go into it here. Be sure and follow the World Safety Fire Foundation link. If that doesn't convince you to go photoelectric you're playing with death. Email [...] and if you send a SASE I will send you a dvd proving much of these assertions to you. It includes a show from Canadian TV that is ILLEGAL to show in the US as well as other information. BE SAFE! My dept's Chief's message is below:
BD
Chief's Message
Warning: Your smoke alarm may not detect smoke
Currently, there is great confusion regarding the topic of smoke alarms. There are two types of smoke alarms used to protect residents in the event of a fire; photoelectric and ionization smoke alarms- both respond differently to smoke and flame.
Ionization smoke alarms react poorly to deadly smoke but faster to flames while photoelectric alarms react much faster to smoke. Ionization alarms are present in over 95% of homes in America and have a high failure rate when it comes to detecting smoke. The problem is, most deadly fires are smoldering fires and not fast flaming fires. By now, most people understand it is deadly smoke and heat that kills you before the flames even reach you. Ionization alarms should be labeled flame alarms and not smoke alarms.
An example of a fast flaming fire would be a Christmas tree fire, which certainly have claimed their share of resident's lives, but nowhere near the number of lives claimed by smoldering fires. Other fast flaming fires would be kitchen fires, which are the leading cause of residential fires, but rarely do they claim lives. I implore you to watch the following videos and audio clips: video 1, video 2, video 3, video 4 (University of Cincinnati presentation), audio clip 1.
Arguably, a greater problem with the ionization alarm is the number of false alarms it renders, thus leading to residents disconnecting the alarm all together. I must include an interesting story - a couple of years ago, with my infinite knowledge, I installed a combination ionization/photoelectric smoke alarm in my living room. Because my home is not large, the house is heated by a wood burning stove. After numerous false alarms (initiated by the invisible smoke) started by my stove, I gave up using the hush button (as it did not silence long enough) and disconnected the battery and remained disconnected until I went to bed. Finally after one season, I placed the combination alarm in my bedroom (replacing the older alarm) and placed a new photoelectric alarm in my living room. Do I need to tell you the results? Not one false alarm. So my point is, how many residents (worldwide) give up and just permanently disconnect the ionization alarm and expose themselves to a potential lethal smoldering fire? Moreover, there have been many fire deaths worldwide with working ionization smoke alarms present but failed to detect smoke. Regrettably, the fire industry has yet to take an official stand to eliminate ionization smoke alarms once and for all.
Sincerely,
Marc McGinn
Albany Fire Chief
P.S. I urge you to immediately replace your current ionization smoke alarms that do not detect smoke, with photoelectric smoke alarms, and for more extensive information please visit [...]. If you have any additional questions or need assistance I welcome your phone call at [...].

Featuring state-of-the-art technology that provides you and your family with an early warning of household fire, the First Alert SA720CN Photoelectric Sensor Smoke Alarm with Escape Light is an effective device designed to be the first line of defense in your household's fire-safety plan. This UL-listed alarm detects the presence of smoke and fire, while also providing a source of light to help guide you safely outside.
WHERE TO PLACE SAFETY PRODUCTS:Smoke Alarms: 1 in every bedroom and at least 1 on every level of the home.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms: 1 on every level of the home and 1 in each sleeping area.
Fire Extinguishers: 1 on every level of the home and 1 each in the kitchen and garage.
Smoke Alarms Save LivesFire is a serious threat to every household; it can strike anywhere, any time. The frightening truth is that in 2005, there were nearly 381,000 home fires in the U.S., resulting in over 16,000 casualties. Thankfully, smoke alarms like the SA720CN help to reduce the risk of death in a household fire by up to 50 percent. The more smoke alarms you have installed in your home, the higher the chance you'll be alerted to a fire in time to escape.
Smoke/Fire Detection and Escape Light Get You to SafetyThe SA720CN smoke alarm alerts you to smoke and fire with a loud 85-decibel alarm. An escape light located right on the unit activates with the alarm and helps you see the path to safety. Many mistakenly believe that fires burn bright enough to sufficiently illuminate enclosed areas. In truth, fires often burn very dark, making it difficult for you to see a clear path out of harm's way. That's why the escape light is so vital; it provides the necessary illumination you need to get yourself and your family outside as quickly as possible.
Innovative Photoelectric Sensing Technology Detects Even Slow, Smoldering FiresThe SA720CN alarm uses photoelectric sensing technology, which is generally more sensitive than commonly used ionization technology, to detect large smoke particles. Large smoke particles tend to be produced in greater amounts by slow-to-burn fires (often caused by cigarettes burning in couches or bedding), which may smolder for hours before bursting into flame.
An added bonus, photoelectric sensing technology reduces false alarms like those caused by cooking smoke and shower steam.
As easy to operate as it is effective, the SA720CN boasts patented OptiPath technology, which provides 360-degrees of direct access to the smoke sensor. Additionally, a mute button quickly silences false alarms for up to 15 minutes and also doubles as an alarm test button.
Advanced Features Test, Protect, and Monitor Battery PowerBecause smoke alarms are only as effective as their batteries, the SA720CN comes equipped with features that protect its battery (included) and make it clear when the battery needs replaced.
First, an easy-access side battery drawer makes it a snap to change the battery without removing the alarm from the wall or ceiling. A blinking power indicator confirms that the unit is receiving power, and an alarm will chirp once per minute when the battery needs to be replaced.
Additionally, a battery-guard drawer resists closing unless the battery is inside, and an optional theft-prevention lock secures the alarm when activated, so that the battery and/or alarm cannot be removed without proper tools, preventing children or others from compromising the alarm's ability to detect smoke and fire.
The SA720CN comes with a 10-year limited warranty.
What's in the BoxSmoke alarm, user's manual, and nine-volt battery.

Color Changing LED Light Bulb and Remote (60 Degree) Review

Color Changing LED Light Bulb and Remote (60 Degree)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This bulb is great for accent lighting. I have one shining down on the fireplace, another on the floor washing up a wall. The colors are brighter than many LED products. The remote can choose between switching from color to color, or fading from color to color. The color changes are faster than I would prefer--taking about 4 seconds between color switch. However, I've used it mostly with a single color constantly. Since it stays cool, you can put these in places where a hot bulb would be dangerous, such as inside a glass cabinet, or on carpeting. And I keep it on all the time, as it uses pennies of electricity per month.
CONS: There is no RGB custom color control--you have a choice of 16 preset colors only. However, I've found a good color among those 16 for each place I put one.
OVERALL: Bright, nice pure colors, lightweight, stays cool, low power. I have bought 4 of them for my house!

Olight T15 120 Lumen Cree Super Bright 7090 XR-E Q5 LED Flashlight Black Review

Olight T15 120 Lumen Cree Super Bright 7090 XR-E Q5 LED Flashlight Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a newcomer to the world of flashlight collecting and so far this one is my favorite. It uses a unique half-textured, half-smooth reflector which both throws the beam very far (clearly illuminates objects across a football field) and has excellent beam spill close by. It is not ringy (though there is a slight transition between the beam and the spill).
It's very sturdily built with thick anodized aluminum. It resists scratches well and looks like it can withstand drops without a problem. I tested its waterproofness with compressed air and it held up admirably; I'd definitely say this light is dunkable, if not submersible.
The modes are extremely easy to operate, the head twists easily and it remembers the last brightness you were at, which is very handy. For everyday use, the top 2 levels are ridiculously bright and you'll probably knock out your night vision if you tried to use it at close ranges. Currently I'm at the medium brightness level which works very well and also gives me around a 5hr runtime on alkalines. It wouldn't be fair if I didn't complain a bit: The clicky switch is very sturdy, which might initially sound like a good thing, but the stiffness is bothersome when operating the light through thick gloves. It almost takes two hands or a "cigar hold" with the index finger to click it on. Also, this might sound silly, but it's not dim enough. The lowest mode is still a bit bright for reading in the dark or working with reflective objects at close range. I think they could've incorporated a bit dimmer of a mode.
Bottom line is, this is a flashlight worth every penny and delivers more light than a lot of gigantic flashlights, while being able to easily fit inside a pocket.

I was very hesitant about buying this, because I read the review where someone said that the motor in it was noisy. But I really wanted it for my husband's surprise party (he was accepted into the police academy)...so I ordered it anyway. Well, we plugged it up...and yeah, it doesn't make any noise at all! I believe the review also said it doesn't work upside down...well, we turned ours upside down, and it worked just fine! He must have gotten a defective one, because I LOVED mine!!!
